Applying for a credit
When you are applying for credit it is important that you are well prepared. Depending on the type of credit you are applying for, and where you are located, you will need to fulfill various criteria.
Basically speaking, since the credit crunch in the USA (which affects most of the western world), it is tougher to get a credit. Also in Europe, the Basel II agreement enforces banks to be more careful with providing credits. Make sure you have planned your visit to your bank well: You will thereby increase your chances to get the credit and at the conditions you envision.
Financial crisis impact
Financial crisis has definitely influenced also credits and conditions of getting one. Not only Slovak banks are now stricter when choosing their desirable loan candidates. While in the past most Slovak banks took into consideration your bank account turnover, these days they are much more interested in your “official” salary.
Banks have increased the interest rate and made the path to getting a loan a bit more complicated. Most banks in Slovakia do not offer a full 100% mortgage any more. Based on statistics of the National Bank of Slovakia have Slovak banks in November 2008 approved by 1/3 fewer mortgages than in October 2008.
