Slovakia
In Slovakia, your employer takes care of the basic insurance coverage needed, both, the social insurance and the health insurance. Employed, self-employed and voluntarily insured are covered by the social insurance.
Social insurance
Employer pays:
- 1,4 % of the given base for health insurance,
- 14 % of the given base old age insurance,
- 3 % of the given base for disability insurance,
- 0,8 % of the given base for accident insurance,
- 1 % of the given base for unemployment insurance,
- 0,25 % of the given base for guarantee insurance,
- 4, 75 % of the given base for Reserve solidarity fund.
Employee pays:
- 1,4 % of the given base for health insurance,
- 4 % of the given base old age insurance,
- 3 % of the given base for disability insurance,
- 1 % of the given base for unemployment insurance.

Health insurance
1. Full-time employment:
Employer pays: 10%
Employee pays: 4 %
Minimal from the amount of 8 100,- sk
Maximal form the amount of 56 283,- sk
2. Self-employed:
14% from the minimum wage of 8 100,- sk
Minimal from the amount of 8 100,- sk
Maximal form the amount of 56 283,- sk
3. Work agreement:
No payment for health insurance, only accident insurance is paid. (0.8% of the compensation for the work) and guarantee insurance (0.25% of the given base of the employee). Only employer pays. There are no advance payments for public health insurance, only voluntarily unemployed pays 14% of the amount he states himself but minimal from the amount 5 361,- sk, maximal from the amount 56 283,- sk
