On September 1 IBM announced details of the world's fastest computer chip in a new version of the IBM mainframe. 5.2GHz z196 processor is a four-core chip that contains 1.4 billion transistors on a 512-square milometer surface. The chip was manufactured using IBM's 45 nanometer SOI processor technology and the ability to handle more than 50 billion calculations per second. Mainframe zEnterprise 196 with new processor begin shipping to customers on September 10.
Guys in Toshiba presented their new Folio 100, an Android 2.2-running tablet. It comes with pre-installed Opera Mobile, FBReader, Document To Go, Adobe Flash 10.1 and Fring. Folio measures 281 x 181 14 mm and weights 760 grams. It has 10.1“ touch-screen with 1024 x 600 resolution, 16GB of internal storage, SD/MMC card reader, 1.3 Mpx webcam, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1, one USB port and mini HDMI output. Battery life capacity is 7 hours. Folio’s reported price is 399€.
The new LV memory modules belongs to XPG Gaming Series. They work at 1333 MHz with CL 9-9-9-24 timing. However memory needs just from 1,25 to 1,35V, it is equipped with an aluminium heatspreader. Canon announced that it has successfully developed the world's largest CMOS image sensor, with a chip size measuring 202 x 205 mm. Because the increased size of the new CMOS sensor allows more light to be gathered, it enables shooting in low-light environments. According the company, the sensor is capable of capturing images in one one-hundredth the amount of light required by a professional-model digital SLR camera. Canon solved the problem arising from enlarging the size of the sensor through an innovative circuit design.
Beijing eedoo Technology Ltd., which is owned by Lenovo, is developing a new gaming console for China. A team of some 40 Lenovo software engineers was spun off from the Lenovo Group to develop and market the "eBox", a platform similar to Microsoft's Kinect for Xbox 360. EBox uses a camera to track player movement and then translate them into onscreen action without the need for a controller. The price for the eBox has yet to be hammered out, but president of Beijing eedoo Technology Ltd. said the price is expected to be higher than Nintendo's Wii, but it may be slightly lower than Microsoft's Xbox.
LG begins mass producing 9.7-inch and 19-inch e-paper

The company LG Display expects to begin mass producing 9.7-inch colour and 19-inch flexible e-paper. E-paper, or electronic paper, is a display used in e-readers on which text appears as it would on printed paper. 19-inch flexible e-paper prototype with parameters 400 x 250 mm, a thickness of just 0.3 mm and a weight of 130 grams, was announced in January. Analysts agreed that colour e-paper could bring a new level of multimedia entertainment to e-readers and also said it is not yet ready to replace traditional LCD screens.
During the second quarter Hewlett-Packard unseated rival IBM as the top sever vendor. International Data Corporation announced it is the biggest jump since 2003. HP's quarterly server revenue was $3.5 billion while IBM's revenue came in at $3.2 billion. IBM, the top-selling server vendor throughout 2009, is now at No. 2 spot behind HP and Dell is No. 3. IBM's revenue was lower in part due to late demand from customers for a new product that was just announced a week ago.

Sony Corporation has developed a hybrid transmission technology which facilitates both internal data transmission and power supply with a single cable. The technology enables to transmit data at 940 Mbps trough a single cable (copper wire). Sony's newly-developed 'single wire interface technology' has achieved bi-directional transmission of several kinds of signals, including video, audio and control signals, by using time division duplex and multiplex. The company aims to promptly implement this technology to improve design flexibility, reliability and durability for mobile devices with movable mechanisms.

Sonata batteries from Boston-Power company will be part of standard equipment on new series B Asus notebooks. These long-life lithium-ion batteries should retain 80 percent of their original capacity for three years hence Asus is offering a three year warranty for the batteries. Versions B43 14.1-inch and B53 15.6-inch are available with Core i5 or Core i7 processor, integrated Intel graphics or ATI Mobility Radeon 5470, 320GB hard drive and 2GB or 4GB of RAM.
Samsung latest 3.5-inch EcoGreen desktop hard disk does with three platters what its F3EG did with four: obtain a 2TB capacity. That's 667GB per platter for what Samsung calls the world's highest areal density, environmentally friendly hard disk drive on the market. Acknowledging Apple's early success with the iPad, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer insisted Thursday that the software maker is hard at work on Windows-based tablets.
