Slovakia entered European Union on May 1st 2004 together with The Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, Slovenia, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Malta and Cyprus. According to World Bank’s analysis Slovakia belongs among those countries where it is not easy to pay taxes and in ranking it took 122nd position out of 178 countries world-wide.
Low taxes don’t automatically equal to simple tax system. Within EU countries it is the easiest to pay taxes in Ireland, United Kingdom, Denmark and Luxemburg, reads the World Bank’s report.
Slovakia has a 19% flat tax system.
